Arm Length

Equipment Options

  • Marker pen
  • Measuring tape
  • Segmometer (with 0.1cm increments)
  • Pen and paper (to record results)
  • Assistant/Training partner (recommended)

The arm length can be measured by using a measuring tape. The Rookie Me athlete should start by allowing their arms to hang loosely by the side of their body, with their fingers outstretched. The shoulder girdle should be in a mid-position (relaxed, not raised or lowered).

The measurement starts from the acromiale (the bony tip of the shoulder) to the tip of the middle finger on the right hand. Preferably using the right arm for this measurement, as it is protocol with anthropometric standard. The arm length reported to the nearest centimetre.

Rookie Me Enter Score

The Rookie Me enter score will be the measurement of the athlete’s arm length and is to be recorded into the Athlete Profile.

The arm length is to be recorded to the nearest 0.1 cm.
